A quorum was established.
The minutes of the
Dr. Hosier thanked everyone
who came to welcome our chancellor-elect last Friday. Dr. DePaolo was
very well received and we look forward to her permanent arrival. He gave congratulations to Dr. Michelle
Howard-Vital on her new position as Associate Vice President for Academic
Affairs Planning for K-12 at the Office of the President.
Special Report
Learning Community
Dr. Dragna gave a brief
report on the values implicit in a university learning community. One feature is an emphasis on measuring
learning success through student learning outcomes, as opposed to
characteristics and qualifications of entering students. He will present a complete report in the fall
to assist the Council in determining the extent to which UNCW should adopt
learning community principles in planning and in its culture.

Dr. Spackman presented the
recommendation of the
The University Planning and Quality Council approves the university-wide goals as amended and authorizes
their use in development of UNCW’s Strategic Plan
2004-2009.
Enrollment Projections through 2012
Mr. Fry Mr. Fry presented enrollment
projections through 2012. The
following motion carried after brief discussion:
The
University Planning and Quality Council adopts the
enrollment targets for 2003-2012 as presented and authorizes their
recommendation to the Office of the President.

Facilities Planning Parameters
Mr. Fry presented 17
parameters for facilities planning developed by the vice chancellors to serve
