Web.
2.
Priority Progress
Measures. Dr. Spackman noted changes made to progress measures #1, 2 and
4 as requested by the Council at the September 1 meeting. The Council discussed
at length the two progress measures remaining for final review: #7 (annual
R&D expenditures) and #9 (endowment for scholarships). Progress
measure #7 was amended to set the target at "at least $20 million by
2010." Progress measure #9 was amended by deleting the words
"in process by 2010" so that it now reads "Raise significant
endowment for diversity and merit scholarships, with a campaign to be completed
by 2013." Dr. Tyndall moved, and Dr. Adams seconded, that the
Council adopt the ten Priority Progress Measures, as amended. The motion
carried without dissent. The final approved version of the Priority
Progress Measures are published on the Web at: http://www.uncw.edu/planning/documents/PriorityProgressMeasures.pdf
3.
Next steps in
strategic planning. The Council identified three areas of future effort:
• publication of a strategic planning
brochure,
• ensuring that the strategic plan is
incorporated into divisional/unit plans, and
• linking the plan to assessment (beyond
the progress measures).
In a future meeting (now planned for the December 8 meeting), Student Affairs
will describe how their strategic planning has been redesigned to reflect the
university's strategic plan.
The meeting was adjourned at
5:02 pm.
