Police Alert

Today, the UNCW Police Department received a third-party report that a female UNCW student was sexually assaulted on February 17 at approximately 2:00 a.m. in a wooded area that was generally described to be located between Brookstone Village apartments (420 Racine Drive) and Seahawk Crossing, which is on the campus of UNCW. The suspect was described only as a male. Police personnel have not spoken with the alleged victim, and no additional information regarding the alleged assault, location or the suspect is available. This information is being shared with you as a precautionary measure.

The safety of every member of our campus community is our top priority. Students are reminded to walk with friends, call for an escort from UNCW police (Ext. 2-2222), keep their windows and doors secure, utilize well-lit walkways and the Seahawk Shuttle, be aware of emergency call box locations, carry a cell phone to dial 911 and report to UNCW police any suspicious individuals or unusual activities. Increased police and security patrols have been initiated in the residential areas on the campus
