The Pre-College Program has launched its College Readiness Institute and Aademy of Pre-College Scholars!  Many talented, academically capable students enter college but do not successfully earn a four-year degree. These preparatory programs expose participants to skills and strategies needed for high school and college success. 

The College Readiness Institute provides 8th grade students and their parents/guardians practical tools for defining and navigating the college preparation process.   Participants attend a day-long workshop on campus to begin and/or further the development of their college planning steps.

The Academy of Pre-College Scholars provides sustained academic and social support for students during grades 9 & 10. Participants attend monthly workshops throughout the school year facilitated by UNCW students, faculty/staff and community volunteers.  Sessions are highly interactive and promote the development of strong 21st century skills that lead towards college admission.
