Lifespan Development Psychologist & Behavior Analyst

The Department of Psychology invites applications for two tenure-track appointments at the Assistant Professor level. One position is for a Lifespan Developmental Psychologist with a specialty in adult development and aging. Candidates for this position will be expected to teach undergraduate courses such as the Psychology of Aging and Lifespan Developmental Psychology as well as graduate courses that support the UNCW Gerontology Master’s Program. The other position is for a Behavior Analyst with a specialty in the applied or experimental analysis of human behavior. Candidates for this position will be expected to teach courses that support the department’s Master’s concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis, as well as undergraduate courses such as Principles of Behavior Change and Psychology of Learning.  Candidates for both positions will also be expected to teach courses required in the general psychology curriculum and to develop active and productive research programs in their specialty area. UNCW is a 12,000 student comprehensive university located on the scenic North Carolina coast.  The department, which has 33 full-time faculty members, serves 600 undergraduate and 60 graduate majors. The department’s master's degree program has a general and a clinical concentration, which includes tracks in Substance Abuse Treatment Psychology as well as Applied Behavior Analysis and is planning a doctoral program with areas of emphasis including developmental disabilities and cognitive aging. Applicants should have completed an earned doctorate in psychology by August 1, 2009. Although teaching and research are the primary responsibilities, service is also expected.  Salary is competitive.  The position will begin in August, 2009.  Members of ethnic minority groups and women are especially encouraged to apply.

Cross-Cultural / Multicultural Psychology

The Department of Psychology invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level in any area of cross-cultural and/or multicultural psychology. Applicants with research interests in the areas of race, racism, stereotyping, minority/cross-cultural aging or development, multicultural clinical issues, or the psychology of diversity are particularly encouraged to apply. We are especially interested in research focused on racial issues involving African-Americans or ethnic issues involving Hispanics/Latinos/Latinas. UNCW is a 12,000 student comprehensive university located on the scenic North Carolina coast.  The department, which has 32 full-time faculty members, serves 600 undergraduate and 60 graduate majors.
