My research concentrates on adult clinical psychology with a particular emphasis on romantic relationships.  Succeeding in relationships is a complex and challenging interpersonal task.  The goal of my research is to understand how couples engage this task in ways that facilitate maximally gratifying marriages.  Specifically, my research examines individual, dyadic, and environmental factors that promote (a) the prevention and alleviation of relationship distress; and (b) the enhancement of positive processes that facilitate optimal relationship functioning.

I am always looking for motivated, conscientious, and bright undergraduate and graduate students to join my lab.  If you fit those qualifications and would like to gain experience conducting research on intimate relationships, please email me at gordonc@uncw.edu.
