Academic Requirements for a Minor in Psychology
Psychology MINOR for students admitted on or after August 2011 (NEW curriculum):
- 18 hours in PSY courses.
- PSY 105 with a grade of "C or better.
- One course from any three of the six content domains*:
- Developmental: PSY 220, PSY 221, or PSY 223.
- Personality and Social: PSY 246 or PSY 264.
- Abnormal: PSY 247.
- Biological: PSY 256.
- Cognitive: PSY 211.
- Learning and Behavior Analysis: PSY 217.
- Six additional credit hours in Psychology courses.
- No more than one course with a grade of “D” may count toward the minor.
- Overall grade point average of “C” (2.00) or better on all minor courses.
- *Important: Credit may be obtained for only ONE of the following course pairs:
- 246-364
- 256-456
- 247-347
- 264-365
- 270-470
- 317-350
- 356-418
Psychology MINOR for students admitted before August 2011 (OLD curriculum):
- 18 hours in PSY courses.
- PSY 105 with a grade of "C or better.
- Two courses (6 hours) from PSY 220, 221, 223, 320, 322, 324, 366, or any 400 level course.
- Two courses (6 hours) from PSY 346, 347, 350, 352, 365, 366 (246, 247, 264, and 317 or any 400 level course).
- One course from PSY 211, 217, 245, 246, 247, 264, 256, 257, 265, 270, 271, 275 or any 300-400 level course.
- No more than one course with a grade of “D” can count toward the minor.
- There must be an average of “C” (2.00) or better on all courses counted toward the minor.
