Hurricane Research

 

Dr.William Cleary, Geology and Geography, is a marine and coastal geologist whose interests include coastal management as well as investigating inlet and hurricane related shoreline changes and the modification of inlet systems for sand resources and shore nourishment purposes.

 

Dr. Chris Dumas, Economics and Finance, researches the economic Impacts of Hurricanes.

 

Dr. John Morrison, Physics and Physical Oceanography, has focused on larval fish recruitment, discharge of materials from the Cape Fear River, effects of storm events on bottom sediments and organisms, physical and chemical signals of water movements at various scales, biology of marine vertebrate populations, and analysis of the effects of hurricanes on the coastal ocean.

 

Dr. Paul Hosier, Professor of Biology and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, researches the aftermath of hurricanes on vegetation of barrier islands, including changes in shoreline position, inlets, and dune morphology (overwash).
