The
University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW)
conducted a four-year program with the New Hanover County School
system to improve science education in the middle schools. A select
group of science graduate students (GK-12 Fellows) from programs in
chemistry, biology, earth sciences, and marine sciences served
as classroom resource persons for middle school teachers and students.
The Science and Mathematics Education Center served as the management
hub for the project and the liaison between UNCW and the New Hanover

and Mathematics Education Center is pleased to maintain this
website as an archival repository of materials developed during
our NSF funded GK-12 Fellows project. While some "news" is
dated, the lessons, Science Literature Database and faculty
SCORE posters remain valuable tools for the science classroom.
