Southeast Regional Science Fair

The Science and Mathematics Education Center proudly sponsors the Southeast Regional Science Fair with support from the Chancellor's Office at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

The 2012 Southeast Regional Science Fair will be held on Saturday, February 11th, 2012 in Hanover Hall.

Parking for this year's science fair is in Lot A. Follow College Road or Wagoner Drive to Hurst Drive on the South side of campus. Go left on Hamilton Drive. Lot A is on the left, before the intersection at Riegel Road. Overflow parking is in Lot K, the entrance to which is on Wagoner Drive. For a campus map, click here.

Our 2011 Southeast Regional Science Fair was held on Saturday, February 12th, 2011. Click here to see the winners!

At the NC State Science and Engineering Fair, 29 students from the Southeast Region had projects on display. Of those, 16 students had projects that received one or more awards. The students are: Callum Funk, Russ Gore, Collin Hinnant, Braden Steward-Campbell, Chad Campbell, Bailey Aldridge, Brandy Nomic, Natalie Foley, Alan Davila, Jared Rosbrugh, Robert Johnson, Logan Spaller, Julie Trieu, Richard Everhardt, Brittany Williams and Kevin Frink. These students came from four different public school districts and one private school.

Special congratulations go out to Robert Johnson who was named ISWEEP Senior Grand Award Winner and Brittany Williams who was an Optics and Photonics Science Fair Award winner, as well as the Intel ISEF Senior Grand Award Winner. The ISWEEP and Intel ISEF award winners go on to national competitions. Over 55% of the students we sent to the State Fair received awards and a total $900 in cash prizes. A complete listing of all winners at the NC State Science and Engineering Fair 2011 can be found here.
