The University of North Carolina Wilmington, The Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust and The Cape Fear Memorial Fund have partnered to create SNAP. SNAP’s mission is to increase the effectiveness and sustainability of low income-serving, health-related nonprofit organizations in Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, Cumberland, New Hanover, Onslow, Pender, Robeson & Sampson counties.
Nonprofits are a cornerstone of life in southeastern North Carolina, providing critical services, improving quality of life, and fostering economic development. However, nonprofits face difficult challenges in meeting their missions. SNAP seeks to assist organizations that are experiencing such challenges, including: increased competition from other nonprofits in the region, decreased access to resources, increased demand for services and growing expectation for professional management practices
