| Responsible Office: Office of Business Affairs | Policy number changed to FAC
1.20: July 1999 Effective: September 1, 1990 |
|
|
Effective July 1999, the policy number changed from MSC 1.10 to FAC 1.20. A new Facilities Use and Rental section of the Administrative Policies and Procedures Manual has been created to organize all policies related to the use and rental of university facilities into one easy-to-find section. |
1. UNCW Contact.
The contact point at UNCW is the Office of Business
Affairs, specifically the Associate Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs,
Room 208, Alderman Hall, (910) 962-3772. Contacts with other persons at the
University will not be made until approved by the above office.
2. Contract Execution.
Prior to any contract execution, the Office of Business
Affairs must receive a copy of the script for the scenes to be filmed on UNCW
property. This script will be reviewed prior to consideration of the contract.
The Office of Business Affairs has the authority to refuse permission to film
on UNCW property.
Contracts shall contain a clear explanation on intended filming dates and times along with an explanation of the extent of the use of any given facility or space.
3. Filming Clearance.
Clearance for the filming activities shall
be verified by contacts between the Office of Business Affairs and the normal
users of the area involved, along with continual cooperation with University
Advancement.
4. Schedule Changes.
Variations from the predicted activities and schedule
are expected and are understood by UNCW. In light of this condition, the absolute
need for continuing communication between the film company and the Office
of Business Affairs must be realized and exercised.
5. Donation.
There shall be a donation from the film
company to the University in an amount to be agreed on between the film company
and the Office of Business Affairs. This donation will be undesignated as
to use and will be received by the Office of Business Affairs. The Office
of Business Affairs will inform the Office of University Advancement when
donations are received.
6. Damaged Property.
The above donation, as previously discussed, does not
cover the cost of repairing or replacing damaged or destroyed University or
personal property. Damaged or destroyed University property will be billed
directly to the film company by the Office of Business Affairs. Damaged or
destroyed personal property will be handled directly with the individual owner.
7. Content of Film.
Film content which depicts activities contrary to North
Carolina law or activities which may be offensive to the University population
or the community will be carefully reviewed before contract execution by the
Office of the Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs in conjunction with any
appropriate panels as deemed necessary. Changes in proposed film content,
after contract execution, must be reviewed and approved by the Office of Business
Affairs.
The film company must realize that the campus is a portion of the public domain and is subject to a diversity of public opinion. Every effort must be expended to maintain a decorum which will not be subject to general adverse criticism.
8. Kenan House.
Filming of various productions at the Kenan House
will be limited to a total of seven days a year, for no more than two productions
each year.
