IOC stands for the Inter-Organization Council. The Student Government Vice President of Organizations chairs the committee and is appointed each year by the SGA president.
IOC exists to serve presidents of student organizations by giving them the opportunity to meet with one another throughout the year. Through networking with one another, presidents can swap ideas, troubleshoot, and pool their resources by working together to host larger events.
IOC Meetings
IOC holds monthly meetings during the fall and spring semesters which are open to all presidents of student organizations. The date and time is set by the VP of Organizations. Some meetings will also have specific agenda topics such as managing conflict, increasing diversity, planning late night events, and more… all designed to further train student organization presidents and help them utilize campus resources.
The IOC president wants to plan meetings that are relevant and helpful so if you have an idea for an agenda topic, be sure to let him/her know!
IOC Events
Once a semester, IOC will hold an event for all of the student organizations to participate in together.
The annual IOC yard sale is already set for the Fall 2004 event so save the date – November 6th! This annual event is SGA sponsored and planned. All student organizations have to do is register for a table (SGA will order tables and chairs and foot the bill!) and show up with stuff to sell. Be sure to start compiling your yard sale goodies and plan to participate in this great fundraising opportunity.
The Spring 2005 event has not yet been planned. Please contact
the VP of Organizations with ideas by calling 962.3553 or leave
a note in his/her SGA box.
