ACE Blockbuster Series
During fall and spring semesters, the Association for Campus Entertainment Films Committee presents blockbuster movies every Friday night at 7:00 and 10:00 and every Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $2 for UNCW Students and $4 for Faculty, Staff and General Public.

ACE Independent Series
During fall and spring semesters, the Association for Campus Entertainment Films Committee presents independent movies every Saturday night at 7:00 and 10:00. Tickets are free for UNCW Students and $2 for Faculty, Staff and General Public.

How can music mirror narrative?

UNCW Student Media presents four acclaimed and evocative films focusing on the nature and creation of art, taking a broad view that embraces music, poetry and sculpture, place and time. This series will be of special interest to anyone interested in how art is defined, the process of creation, the synthesis among genres . Each film invites us to rethink what we know about art, our world and ourselves. Facilitated discussion to accompany each screening. Study guides available. Admission free. Counseling Center Film Series
The Counseling Center presents films that feature an individual who faces adversity, then engages in a positive self-change or transformation. Counseling Center films also highlight an aspect of diversity. Conversations will follow each movie. Admission is free. All showings start at 7:00 p.m. on the following dates:

Alumni Film Series
Join us for these showings of fun, feature-length films created by UNCW Film School grads almost immediately after graduating! A large number of current students and alumni acted in these films or participated in the productions, so expect to see some familiar faces! When you think about your life after graduation, do you imagine going out an making a movie all on your own? Where will you get the money? How do you find people willing to work for free and make them accountable to you, a person who has never made a feature-length film outside of the university setting? What skills will you be able to apply from what you learned in Film School or business classes and what skills will you have to learn from the school of hard knocks? These film directors will tell you about their experiences with these very issues immediately after graduating and will also stay to answer your questions. Sponsored by UNCW Presents.

2nd Annual Scene First Student Film Festival

Student filmmakers…we know what you need and the annual Scene First Student Film Festival provides it all in one place. The atmosphere at Scene First is more relaxed than traditional festivals – flip-flops instead of black ties, and BBQ instead of caviar. Access Without Attitude…at the beach!

It’s ALL here!  Meet and learn from some of the most talented people in the industry.  Check out a wide range of educational workshops, seminars, studio tours, screenings, live music, and much more. Screen your film and view films created by student filmmakers from around the country.  Hang out with filmmakers and industry veterans and develop connections that last a lifetime!

In 2007, Scene First received submissions from over 100 high schools and colleges in 24 states and 8 countries. 108 student films were screened during the festival. Awards were presented in 7 categories, plus an overall Grand Jury Award.
