Welcome to UNCW Presents!
We are delighted to welcome you to the 2007-08 UNCW Presents season. We have built a tradition of artistic excellence, program diversity, and production quality that is second to none in Wilmington with our dynamic programs. Our trademark mix of excellence and eclecticism continues next season amid a host of amazing dance, exhilarating music, inspiring lectures, engaging exhibitions, and other world-class events.
Mission
UNCW Presents annually brings to the southeastern NC region a full season of performing arts, visual arts and lectures by world-famous artists and speakers as well as astounding newcomers through its dynamic arts and lecture programs.
Our programs seek to supplement, support and enhance the ongoing academic curriculum at UNCW, while expanding audiences' awareness of and accessibility to the arts. Our programs serve students, UNCW faculty and staff and the greater Wilmington community, with the primary goal to encourage students to explore and participate in a wide range of cultural arts possibilities to enrich their college experience.
What We Do
We present performances featuring touring artists from all over the world with the Arts in Action Performance Series – first-rate dancers, world-class musicians, theater companies, and other performing artists.
We host exhibits featuring a variety of media on display year round in the Warwick Center lobby, representing a mix of local, professional and student artists as well as traveling exhibitions on some occasions. Our new gallery, the Ann Flack Boseman Gallery, will open in the University Union, Spring 2008.
We offer lectures and special events featuring writers, artists, scientists, journalists, filmmakers, and other notable accomplished people through the Leadership Lecture Series.
We coordinate film programming and screen films– international cinema, independent films, documentaries, classics, new releases, and much more in Lumina Theater.
We create and operate Above & Beyond an artists-in-residence program that features master classes, lecture-demonstrations, open rehearsals, and classroom discussions at UNCW in addition to visits to local non-profit organizations.
