Diversity at UNCW

The Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion coordinates the university’s diversity initiative by helping foster an educational climate that promotes intellectual interactions across the campus and between the campus and the community.  For more information about diversity at UNCW, click here.

The Student Affairs Diversity Committee, appointed by the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs in October 2006, is responsible for identifying staff training and development iniatives, staff recruitment and retention activities, and student programming. Throughout the academic year, The Diversity Committee coordinates and facilitates a number of multicultural and diversity related programs and trainings. These include, but not limited to, freshman seminar workshops, orientation presentations, film discussions, webinars, and campaigns to educate and bring awareness to the  UNCW community. If you are interested in learning more about the Student Affairs Diversity Committee, and/or would like for the committe to aid in a presentation or program, feel free to contact any member from the Diversity Committee Roster.

Ten Ways to Fight Hate on Campus is a guide for college students to follow in order to respond to bias-driven words and actions on their college campuses. Although administrators, faculty and staff members are vital players in any response, it is the student who makes the most difference. Read about how to fight hate on campus here.
