About Us

The Office of Student Life Assessment is directed by Dr. Nathan Lindsay. Dr. Lindsay completed his Ph.D. in Higher Education at the Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education at the University of Michigan under the direction of Dr. Patricia King.  He also received a master’s degree in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University. 

His research interests include efforts to enhance the holistic development of students, the improvement of learning and teaching, the integration of technology into higher education contexts, and international /comparative issues in higher education. 

 

Deanna Leake is a Graduate Assistant in the Office of Student Life Assessment at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She graduated from UNCW in 2001 with a degree in elementary education and a concentration in psychology. She taught 5th grade at Bellamy Elementary for 7 years and received her National Board Teaching Certification in 2005. Having served in the public school system as an educator she decided to expand her field to a larger scale and return to school. She is currently a Principal Fellow working towards completing her Master’s degree in School Administration.

Her research interests include the legalities of the public education system and various strategies in implementing a problem based learning approach within schools. She also enjoys being able to use data to make effective decisions to determine best practices.

 

Rachele Caputo is a Research Assistant in the Office of Student Life Assessment at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Secondary Education at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania. Having served in the public school systems as an educator for five years, and then transitioning into the corporate sector since 2001, she is now returning to working in the education sector after a brief hiatus of operating and managing her own business.  She is currently completing a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling. 

Her research interests include efforts to enhance the presentation of collected data for the purpose of awareness and improvement.   She also enjoys integrating technology into research contexts in order to effectively gather and present data in a more efficient and meaningful manner.
