Deanna Leake, Graduate Assistant Deanna Leake is a Graduate Assistant in the Office of Student Life Assessment at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She graduated from UNCW in 2001 with a degree in elementary education and a concentration in psychology. She taught 5th grade at Bellamy Elementary for 7 years and received her National Board Teaching Certification in 2005. Having served in the public school system as an educator she decided to expand her field to a larger scale and return to school. She is currently a Principal Fellow working towards completing her Master’s degree in School Administration. Her research interests include the legalities of the public education system and various strategies in implementing a problem based learning approach within schools. She also enjoys being able to use data to make effective decisions to determine best practices.
