CAMPUS LIFE FACILITIES

ACCESSIBLITY ACCOMODATIONS

September 2007

The Department of Campus Life strives to be in compliance with ADA guidelines, and to provide accessible facilities. To that end, Campus Life has implemented the following policies and procedures regarding accommodating persons with disabilities in our spaces and buildings.

Event Accommodations

Notification of accommodations needed:

“If you are a qualified individual with a disability and desire assistive devices, services or other reasonable accommodations to participate in this activity, please contact the Reservations and Event Services Office at 910-962-7098 during the business hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., or email uureservations@uncw.edu  to discuss accommodations at least three (3) days prior to the event.”

Assistive Listening Systems. Assistive listening systems (ALS) are intended to augment standard public address and audio systems by providing signals which can be received directly by persons with special receivers or their own hearing aids and which eliminate or filter background noise. The type of assistive listening system appropriate for a particular application depends on the characteristics of the setting, the nature of the program, and the intended audience. Magnetic induction loops, infra-red and radio frequency systems are types of listening systems which are appropriate for various applications.

Signs indicating available ALS will be prominently displayed in these locations:
