Each year the Counseling Center collaborates with campus partners to present Sound Mind, Sound Body. This program is designed to promote mental, emotional, and phsycical well-being in the campus community.
2009 Call for Programs
Sound Mind, Sound Body will be held on April 16, 2009.
The event will consist of workshops, displays, presentations, and activities that aim to:
- Promote emotional well-being through life-skills development
- Decrease the stigma and increase the awareness of mental health issues
- Educate about healthy eating practices
- Encourage exercise and physical activity
- Enhance the appreciation of human diversity
This year we are offering the opportunity for the entire campus community to present at the event. Proposals may be submitted by faculty, students, and staff members for presentations or activities that promote the ideal of a Sound Mind, Sound Body.
Examples from prior events include stress and relaxation workshops, yoga demonstration, art displays, and information tables. If you have a special interest, hobby, activity or knowledge related to promoting a Sound Mind, Sound Body, please share. All ideas are welcome.
Faculty members are encouraged to infuse a Sound Mind Sound Body topic in their curriculum for that week and to make use of extra credit opportunities.
The deadline for program proposals is October 1, 2008. You will be notified by December 1, 2008 if your proposal is accepted.
