Each year the Counseling Center collaborates with campus partners to present Sound Mind, Sound Body (SMSB). This program is designed to promote mental, emotional, and physical well-being in the campus community.
The event typically consists of workshops, displays, presentations, and activities that aim to:
- Promote emotional well-being through life-skills development
- Decrease the stigma and increase the awareness of mental health issues
- Educate about healthy eating practices
- Encourage exercise and physical activity
- Enhance the appreciation of human diversity
The annual Sound Mind, Sound Body event for 2009 will be held on April 16th.

Students can enter individually or as a team. Submit the recipe and team participants to Alice Merritt via email merritta@uncw or drop off at Student Recreation Center room 104. Finalists will be notified by Wednesday, April 8 and will compete on Thursday, April 16th 12:00pm in the Campus Commons. Preliminary Judging will be based on variety of Ingredients and nutritional quality. Questions can be directed to Health Promotion at 962-4135.
