The mission of the CROSSROADS program is to encourage students to focus on their personal choices and be responsible decision makers regarding the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
CROSSROADS is happy to do a presentation in any UNI class. We can tailor it to any length of time or any topic that you would like us to highlight. Our "standard" UNI lecture will cover:
- Responsible decision making in the college environment
- Information about making low-risk choices about alcohol use
- Factual information about alcohol & drug use at UNCW (it's lower than they think!)
- How to recognize the signs of abuse & how to help a friend
- Drug trends of interest, including predatory drugs and prescription drug abuse
CROSSROADS is also happy to provide supplementary material to any UNI instructor, including handouts, brochures, videos, etc. to enhance their coverage of this topic.
Professional prevention specialists and/or student peer educators are available to present in any classroom or to small groups such as clubs and organizations. Professionals from Crossroads can present on a variety of drug and alcohol related topics, such as:
- Alcohol
- Marijuana
- Tobacco
- Ecstasy, Rohypnol, Club Drugs
- Prescription drug abuse, including Ritalin
- Abuse of Athletic performance related drugs, including GHB and steroids
