What is a Community Resource Assistant?
In collaboration with local apartment communities, the UNCW Office of the Dean of Students and the Center for Commuter and Non-Traditional Student Services have created the Community Resource Assistant (CRA) Program. CRAs are UNCW students who reside at several Wilmington apartment communities and serve as a resource, advocate, and liaison for other student tenants.
CRAs provide fellow student tenants with current UNCW information, mild roommate mediation, and monthly programming, such as information sessions and social events. CRAs also refer students who need assistance to the appropriate on-campus resource, such as the Office of the Dean of Students. This is a great connection to the university for students living in an off-campus setting, especially first year students!
The intention of these responsibilities is to foster a University support system for off-campus students. CRAs are not responsible for monitoring student conduct; they solely are a resource and liaison to their fellow students and apartment manager. In exchange for their services, CRAs receive a discount on their monthly rent.
Look below for the contact information of our current CRAs. Feel free to contact them if you are considering moving into their community, or if you are thinking of becoming a CRA yourself!
