Move-IN Process

We know that Move-IN day can be a bit nerve-wracking for freshman and parents. That's why we have made it as simple as possible for you and your student. Check out the process below, and you'll be prepared when the big day comes!

(1) When you get to campus on Move-IN day, University Police will be on hand to direct you to where you need to go. Please make sure your Move-IN placard is in the front window of your vehicle.
(2) Your first stop will be the check-in location that corresponds to your residence hall, where you will receive your room key and obtain your Move-IN paperwork.

(3) Once you have your key, you will be directed to pull up in front of your resident hall so that your car can be unloaded.
(4) Each hall is equipped with a large group of volunteers who will meet you at your car. At least one parent/driver should remain with their vehicle.

(5) During Move-IN 2006 approximately 1200 volunteers were on hand to assist with the effort.

(6) UNCW volunteers will unload your belongings for you. Prior to arriving on-campus, please make sure you CLEARLY LABEL ALL OF YOUR BELONGINGS WITH NAME, RESIDENCE HALL, and ROOM NUMBER. The vehicle driver should relocate the vehicle promptly to the proper parking lot as designated by university staff. This will ensure proper flow of traffic.

(7) While your vehicle is being parked, our volunteers will assist in taking your belongings to your new room for you.

(8) By the time you get to your room, your belongings will be waiting for you and can concentrate on setting up your stuff!
On Move-IN day, ITSD client service representatives along with ResNet workers will be on hand to assist you with your computer connection to the UNCW data network.  Click here for more information about residence hall computer requirements.
