StudyQuiet Living
The University of North Carolina Wilmington offers resident students the unique opportunity to live in an intensive study area. As a result of continued interest in this Study/Quiet environment, the Office of Housing and Residence Life will again be offering this housing option. The Study/Quiet Floor will be located on the first floor of Schwartz Hall. A total of thirty-six spaces (evenly divided between men and women) are available on this floor.
Guidelines for the Study/Quiet Floor
- Those living on the Study/Quiet Floor should be interested in living in an environment that is conducive to intensive study. As a result, all residents must be commited to academic acheivement as their primary goal.
- Students must always be conscious of how noise impacts other residents on hte floor. Music, television, social, and any other kind of noise must remain at a low volume.
- As a member of the Study/Quiet community, each student will be asked to take some responsibility for enforcing these guidelines. For example, if a resident does have a problem with noise from another resident, the first step is to approach the person(s) concerning the situation. If the noise continues, the resident should contact the floor Resident Assistant (RA) and explain the situation. If the RA is not available, the resident should contact the RA on duty for assistance.
- As a part of this shared responsibility, residents of the Study/Quiet Floor will be asked to create a Floor Agreement to specifically outline and define the standards for this community. This will be facilitated by the floor RA.
- Residency of the Study/Quiet Floor does not require a specific grade point average. All residents must be willing to follow these guidelines and take part in the shared responsibility of enforcing the Study/Quiet Agreement.
- Violations of the Study/Quiet Agreement can result in an administrative room change off the floor and potentially out of Schwartz Hall.
If you are interested in living in Schwartz Hall and want to participate, please complete the Application for the 24 hour Study/Quiet Floor.
