Earn a Leadership UNCW Certificate in ...

• Personal Leadership
• Civic and Community Engagement
• Fraternity and Sorority Leadership
• Organizational Leadership
• Outdoor Adventure Leadership

All certificates have a common set of requirements that include:

ELECTIVE WORKSHOPS
Any workshop can count as an elective (or "additional workshop of your choice") for a certificate, with the exception of the four foundation workshops. For example, a workshop required for the Certificate in Organizational Leadership can count as an elective workshop toward completing the Certificate in Civic and Community Engagement. However, the four foundation workshops required for the Certificate in Personal Leadership cannot count as elective workshops for any other certificate.

WRITTEN REFLECTIONS
Reflections should be 200-300 words in length, written in paragraph form, and address:

• what you learned from participating in the specific workshop
• what you plan to do in the future to apply what was learned during the workshop

Submit completed reflections via email to Jenn Smist, either in the text of the email or as an attachment.

There is no deadline for completing written reflections, though it is suggested that you complete them within two weeks of each workshops. You will not complete the requirements and earn a certificate without written reflections on file for each workshop attended.

PERSONAL LEADERSHIP

REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPLETION:

• Participate in the four foundation workshops:
  • Leadership Concepts
    Thursday, March 13 - 2:00-3:00pm - Saffo Room, FSC
    
  • Group Dynamics
    Monday, March 24 - 3:00-5:00pm - Bald Head Island Room, FSC
    
  • Ethical Decision Making
    Tuesday, April 15 - 12:00-1:30pm - Topsail Island Room, FSC
    
  • Diversity
    Wednesday, March 26 - 3:00-4:00pm - Topsail Island Room, FSC
    
• Complete written reflections for each workshop attended
• Complete 5 hours of community service

CIVIC AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPLETION:

• Earn the Leadership UNCW Certificate in Personal Leadership
• Participate in three required workshops:

    Tuesday, April 1 - 1:00-2:30pm - Bald Head Island Room, FSC
    
  • Leadership for Social Change (Social Change Model of Leadership)
    Monday, April 7 - 5:30-6:30pm - Sunset Beach Room, FSC
    
  • Planning a Community Service Program
    Monday, March 17th - 5:00-6:00pm - Warwick Center, Room 104
    
• Participate in two additional workshops of your choice
• Complete 10 additional hours of community service

FRATERNITY AND SORORITY LEADERSHIP

REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPLETION:

• Earn the Leadership UNCW Certificate in Personal Leadership
