About Lumina Theater

Lumina Theater offers a professional movie theater experience to the UNCW community.  This state-of-the-art film venue opened in August of 2006 with 360 stadium seats, a 15.5' x 30' screen, Dolby Digital surround sound, 35mm capabilities and an amazing digital projection system. Lumina screens blockbusters, independents, cult classics, art films, international films and student films throughout the academic year, four or more days a week, except during University holidays and breaks.

Location

Lumina Theater is located in the Fisher Student Center on the UNCW campus.  Click here for a campus map.

 

Parking
UNCW offers free visitor parking in parking lot F, located just off Wagoner Drive between Alderman Hall and Westside Hall. For those who need to park closer to Lumina Theater, Auxiliary Services recommends that non-university guests park in the metered guest spaces on Riegel Road or in Lot M during weeknights.  On Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, guests may park in any white or yellow spaces.

Ticket Information for 2008-2009

Tickets for ACE Blockbusters on Friday nights and Saturday afternoons and for ACE Independents on Saturday nights can be purchased at the Sharky's Box Office in the Fisher Student Center starting on the Monday during the week before the shows.

ACE Blockbusters are $2 for UNCW students with ID and $4 for all others. ACE Independent shows are free for UNCW students with ID and $4 for all others.

Many other movies are free to all. On occasion, a small fee is charged for the general public to attend films. Ticket prices for other special events vary. All advertised events are open to the public.

 

ADA Information

If you need an assisted listening device or captions activated for a DVD presentation, please let our staff know before the show starts, so that we can inform the projectionist.

 

Programming Information
Lumina Theater is programmed by the Film Advisory Committee, a coalition of academic and campus departments and student organizations dedicated to showcasing films which may not otherwise reach the Wilmington community. Members of the UNCW community who wish to participate on this programming committee are invited to contact Sandra Jackson in UNCW Presents at 962.7971.

If your student organization or department is interested in hosting a film program, contact Union Reservations for more information about reserving Lumina Theater.
