The UNCW Staff Council Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded annually to a staff member or their immediate family member in order to support their educational endeavors at UNCW. Applicants must have been employed at UNCW for a minimum of 1 year, have been accepted into UNCW and in pursuit of a degree, and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. The award is to be used toward educational and other related expenses such as tuition, fees, books, transportation, child care, etc. Click here for more information.
Alpha Sigma Lambda Scholarships
UNCW is an institutional member of Alpha Sigma Lambda, the nation's premier honor society for non-traditional adult students, and home to the Gamma Theta Rho chapter. Currently, the Alpha Sigma Lambda Foundation awards five annual general chapter scholarships of $1200, for which UNCW students may apply. (The organization also awards two annual Triangle Club: Second Century scholarships in the amounts of $1500 and $1200; however UNCW is not a Triangle Club Chapter and our students do not have access to those). Since 1983, more than $75,000 has been awarded to over 110 recipients. Scholarship applications are mailed out to all national councilors in early Spring, with awards being announced in mid-July.
UNCW students who meet the following criteria may apply:
- Completed 30 semester hours of graded coursework at the institution. (Not including transfer credits.)
- Achieved an overall grade point average of at least 3.2 (General Foundation Scholarships) on a scale with 4.0 as the highest grade.
- Is 24 years of age or older.
- Is enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program at the matriculating institution.
- Has a financial need for assistance in completing the degree.
- Student applicants do not have to be members of Alpha Sigma Lambda to apply.

Student Government Association (SGA) Scholarship
The UNCW Student Government Association is proud to announce the first Student Government Association Scholarship. This honor will be awarded to a student organization leader who exemplifies academic excellence and strong leadership skills within their organization. This award will be included in the annual Student Organization Leadership Awards. We believe that our student organizations add an undeniable value to our campus community; furthermore, the student leaders of these organizations deserve to be recognized for their efforts and commitment to this university. Application packets are available in the Involvement Center, FSC 2029 and on the web at: www.uncw.edu/sga (click on Funding, then Special Activity Fund and scroll down). To be eligible to apply, student leaders must submit a recommendation form from a student representative or organization advisor.
