The Student Media Board (SMB) is a chancellor's advisory board that coordinates and advises student publications to ensure that effective service is being given to the student body and the university and to protect the rights of the governed organizations to operate free of censorship. Comprised of students, faculty, staff and community professionals, the SMB also provides budgetary oversight.
Currently three media come under the aegis of the SMB:
The Seahawk newspaper
Atlantis magazine
Other student-media organizations, funded by SGA, are closely affiliated with the SMB:
Flicker Film Society, devoted to film writing, production and reviewing
Hawkstream Radio, a fledging webstreaming radio station
The SMB meets monthly in the fall and semi-monthly in the spring. Click here for the 2008–2009 meeting schedule.
