The College Level Examination Program (CLEP), see CLEP web site, is a series of computer-based exams that allow individuals to demonstrate learning and earn college credit for that knowledge. The exams are generally composed of multiple-choice questions and are approximately 90 minutes long. Score reports are available immediately after the test. Individuals may then select appropriate courses when scheduling classes.
University Testing Services offers all CLEP tests. See the CLEP web site site for a list and description of the CLEP tests. However, UNCW accepts only certain CLEP tests for credit. See the list below.

Registration and Scheduling Policy
CLEP Testing is available on these days and times:
Days: Monday through Friday
Times: 9:00 am, 11:00 am, and 1:00 pm
Call the UNCW Testing Center at 910-962-7444 to make an appointment. The Testing Center in located in Westside Hall, room 1021, Wilmington, NC 28403.
Fees
A $20 fee payable to UNCW is required when a reservation is made. Credit card/debit card information may be given over the phone. If payment is made by check, make it payable to UNCW and send it to the address listed above. The reservation will be confirmed when the payment is received.
A $70 payment to CLEP (College Level Examination Program) is due on the day of the examination. Payment may be made by credit card/debit card/check or money order. Cash is not accepted). This fee is waived for active duty military personnel.

Identification Requirements
CLEP requires two forms of identification. You must bring a driver's license or state identification card AND one of the following: school ID, social security card, or passport. If you cannot meet these requirements, please contact UNCW Testing Services at 910-962-7444.
Calculator Policy
Calculator functions are provided within the delivery of the examination for certain subjects. Educational Testing Service and the College Board set policy for the use of calculators.
CLEP Retest Policy
The College Board provides the retest policy fo the College Level Examination Program. A failed test may be repeated no sooner than six months after the initial date of the examination. Credit cannot be granted for any examination repeated befoe a six-month period has elasped.
