All UNCW students are required to take at least one course in a foreign language to complete basic studies requirements (some majors may require more).

Everyone should take the placement test except:

Math Placement Test:

All new freshmen are required to take the math placement test which will be offered on the 1st day of Orientation.

As you will see on the tentative schedule (see above for link), the Math Placement Test will be offered during orientation.  Because students have expressed interest in taking the test early, the Departments of Mathematics and Statistics and University Testing are offering students several opportunities to take the Math Placement Test prior to orientation.  The options are:

Those interested in taking the test early MUST sign up no later than 2 days prior to the testing date to be guaranteed a seat.  Registration should include your name, email address and a phone number where you can be reached easily.  Please email this information to mathplacement@uncw.edu.  We will send a confirmation via email with the date, time and directions to Bear Hall.

You are encouraged read the frequently asked questions and to study the review sheet on the Math Lab web site. It is also helpful to brush up on your algebra prior to taking the test.

Any additional questions can be directed to Ms. Edwina Slane at 910.962.3217.
