The Learning and Study Strategies Inventory (LASSI) is the tool we use to help students identify study skills strengths and areas in need of attention. The LASSI is a research-backed, nationally normed tool that assesses a student's current application of ten specific items associated with skill, will, and self-regulation in the college environment:
- anxiety
- attitude
- concentration
- information processing
- motivation
- selecting main ideas
- self-testing
- study aids
- test strategies
- time management
UNCW students often take the LASSI as part of a freshman seminar course or individually with a study skills tutor. The student and tutor can use the LASSI results to identify areas to focus on in the individual consultation. More information about LASSI can be found at the publisher's website. Appointments to take the LASSI may be made at the center offices in Westside Hall.
