Learning Services provides academic support in the form of content and study skills tutoring for all UNCW students. We like to say that our goal is to tutor ourselves out of a job. This philosophy translates into a tutoring practice that integrates what to study with how to study, thereby truly fostering independent learning and developing skills that will transfer to other courses. We strictly uphold the UNCW academic honor code, and encourage students to take pride in their accomplishments and responsibility for their own learning.
Tutoring is provided free of charge to any UNCW student currently enrolled in a supported course. No additional eligibility criteria needs to be met.
For requests outside the group of supported courses, we will be happy to disseminate the name and contact information of the requestor to our tutoring staff in order to facilitate the negotiation of a private contract. However, the ULC does not get involved in the terms of negotiation for such contracts, nor can private contract tutoring take place in the Center.
