Prior to joining the UNCW School of Social Work faculty, Ms Denny was the Director of the BSW Program and Assistant Professor of Social Work at Hood College in Maryland and taught as a Visiting Professor of Social Work at NC State University. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Ms. Denny has several years of practice experience in child development and family adjustment, practicing as the Chief Social Worker at the Developmental Evaluation Center of Duke Medical Center. In addition, Ms. Denny was a medical social worker in Maine where she developed social work practice in two medical centers while consulting for social work departments in several other health care facilities in New England. She has co-authored a chapter for health care education on family coping styles and has presented at numerous regional and national conferences on psychosocial issues of disease management as well as solution oriented practice in field education, mindfulness practice, etc.
