What Your "Fellow" Fellows Are Up To...
Ivy McCreary and Matt Morris are your Freshmen Class Reps for 2007-2008! As the Freshmen class of 2007 Teaching Fellows, we have already experienced many things during our EDN classes with KB. We have been writing letters back and forth with pen-pals at Roland-Grise Middle School and we have had many speakers come in to present to us a new way of thinking about teaching. One of the speakers was from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa. He came to expand our thinking of how much we take for granted in America and how much the South Africans want education from anyone at any time because they recognize that learning is a privilege, not a right. So, even though it has only been a couple of months, the Freshmen class is already working hard and learning more and more every day. Freshmen Tyler Goodwin won the Guitar Hero tournament sponsored by Graham Hall with a 90% expert rating on "Free Bird"!
Freshmen Ivy McCreary has been selected as an Orientation Leader for this summer!! Yeah, Ivy!
Maryanne Garris is on the Travel/Conferences Committee while Breana Van Velzen and Caroline Medford are on the Outreach Committee this year! The Sophomore class will be busy in the coming weeks preparing for Open House. Breana van Velzen will be leaving to study abroad in Hertfordshire for the Spring semester while we welcome back Sarah Scruggs from her study abroad semester in Australia. Holly Alexander took the opportunity to volunteer doing relief work in New Orleans over winter break. Also, Hannah Pressley is busy putting the finishing touches on her wedding on March 7th!
Junior Class Reps are Brittany Matthews and Lindsay Watkins. Shannon Owens and Lauren Bailey are on the Social Committee while Tana Sisler and Jessica Marva are on the Travel/Conferences Committee this year! In addition, Madison Horeth and Melody Wells are on the Recruitment Committee and Lauren Abernethy and Hayley Fields will be on the Publicity Committee. The Junior class is happy for such a successful December Social. We are preparing for Senior Orientation Week. Applications to the different counties are due by January 11th. Several Fellows also celebrated their 21st birthdays over the winter break. Wes Rose is still performing at the Front Street Brewery often and you can see him for any performance dates. We are looking forward to Relay for Life coming up in the Spring as well as working with Outstanding Principals next semester in our TF class! Senior Class Reps are Jennifer Rausch and Sarah Payne. The Senior class is busy preparing for student teaching during the Spring 2008 semester. We are pleased to announce that some of our December 2007 graduates are busy working in the classroom! Ashley Moore is working as a first grade assistant and Brady Thomas got a job at Parsley!
Check out some pictures of your fellow Fellows' Involvement!
