                                     Committee Events for Fall of 2007

 

Outreach:

  • October 20thAll Shifts Are FULL!!!Oktoberfest, will be, at Independence Mall.  We need volunteers to participate in games and crafts such as face painting. It will be a great time for the kids and remember the 2 events requirement.  Here's your chance to help raise money for Habitat for Humanity. There will be two shifts and we need ten people at each. The shifts are 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and 1:45-6 p.m.

  • November 2nd:  Wendy Miller : Follow the Yellow Brick Road: Challenging Diverse Learners

    An interactive session using an “OZ” analogy to discuss students with diverse learning needs.  It provides innovative strategies, practical tips, and humorous classroom experiences.

  • When: Friday, November 2nd, 2007

    Where: Education Building Rm. 162
    Time: In the late afternoon (Definite time TBA)

    Wendy Miller received her under graduate degree from UNCW in special education.  She now is Director of Human Resources for Craven County Schools.  Miller has 18 years of teaching experience and seven years in her current position.  She was named the 2005-06 North Carolina Teacher of the year and achieved National Board Certification in 2002.  Miller’s motto is Dream Big.  Dream big, for out of dreams come miracles.  Wendy Miller brings so many real life situations to her presentation and truly has a passion for students and making a difference in their lives.

  • October 20st: Carowinds

             Tentative Schedule: Leave early 20th to go to Carowinds. Then we will come home late the same dayt.

    • October 13th: Family Weekend Picnic: Face Painting

                         Time: 10:30a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

                          Where: Campus Recreation Fields

                       The Following Shifts Are Available:   Family Weekend needs lots of volunteers!

  1.                      10:30-11:30 (3 people still needed)
  2.                      11:30-12:30 (2 people still needed)
  3.                     12:30- 1:30 (5 people still needed)
  4.                     1:30 - 2:30 (5 people still needed)

                                      1:00-1:30 Speak with Teacher Cadets in Education Lab about the Teaching Fellows Program
