At, UNCW you have the best of both worlds. First, the university is a thriving academic community with faculty and administrators who are genuinely concerned about each student as an individual. Open door policies outside of the classroom make our faculty readily accessible. Secondly, you'll love the university's setting and the Wilmington community. UNCW's modified Georgian architecture and elegant landscaping depict a traditional and distinguished college campus. Wilmington's historical heritage and coastal location present wonderful opportunities for discovery and outdoor recreation.

The Teaching Fellows program at UNCW is based on a Seminar Foundation with extra curricular activites. The students enroll in Seminar courses, designed to spotlight Education and offer additional experiences to enhance the Education courses. In addition, students participate in TF led Committees which are designed to foster leadership.

The students spend time their Freshman year as a big buddy, where they work with students in New Hanover County as their tutors. The Sophomore year focuses on diversity in schools and ways to best educate people.  Junior Seminar spotlights exemplary teachers, which the students observe and interview to help put into practice the theories and show life as an educator. The Seniors have a seminar designed to provide them with tools and tips to being successful in the academic world.

There are six committees from which the students can choose; including: Recruitment, Community Outreach, Travel, Conferences, Publicity, and Social.
