Teaching Fellows Program

Welcome New Students and Families

Welcome to the UNCW Teaching Fellows Program!  I am delighted to know that you are interested in both this fine university and the outstanding Teaching Fellows Program we have designed just for you.  The focus of our program is on the individual and our goal is to make each Fellow a successful college student and a well-prepared and confident future teacher.  We consider ourselves a family where there is care and concern shown for each member.   Fellows live together their first year on the Education floor and I serve as their freshmen academic advisor.   A Fellow's family is an important member of the "team" that ensures the success of each student.

I hope you take some time and check out all the exciting parts of our program here at UNCW.  Fellows participate in a unique and creative seminar series that provides them an enhanced teacher education preparation.  Fellows also govern many aspects of the program through the work of a student-run Teaching Fellows Council and a comprehensive committee structure.  The program takes full advantage of the beautiful Wilmington area, from the Cape Fear river to the exciting beaches nearby.  Strong relationships with local school systems allows for Fellows to work with K-12 children as early as their first semester.

Enjoy your virtual visit and feel free to contact us for a trip to campus where you can take a tour, sit in on a seminar class and talk to current Fellows.  We look forward to meeting you!
