Instructions for posters and oral presentations
Posters
The dimensions for posters should not exceed 36 inches in height and 42 inches in length (36” × 42”).
We will have poster easels with poster boards and pushpins, so presenters only need to bring their posters. The poster social is scheduled to begin at 6pm in the mess hall of the Battleship North Carolina, located one deck below the main deck. Poster presenters should make every effort to catch the first trolley in front of the hotel at 5:45PM in order to arrive early and set up their poster. The poster easels will be labeled with the first author of each poster and positioned alphabetically throughout the mess hall. There will be several UNCW folks there early to provide any needed assistance. We are planning to store the posters and easels on the ship and re-display them for Friday evening’s social. At the end of the Friday evening social, presenters should plan to retrieve their posters.
Oral presentations
Presenters should plan for 12 minute talks with 3 minutes for questions (total time slot length = 15 minutes). This will enable us to complete all of the student presentations on Friday and give out the student paper and poster awards on Friday evening. We will have a computer and projection system; presenters should use Microsoft powerpoint and bring their talks on a flash drive. Those presenting during the first session on Friday morning should plan to arrive early to load their talks. All other presenters can load their talks during the break that precedes their session.
