Writing Intensive submissions:
Quantitative criteria were not specified, so as to allow for flexibility within differing disciplines. However, it is important to keep in mind the following guidelines for a successful proposal:
1) it must be an upper level course (200 level or above);
2) the amount of written work should be substantial;
3) the percentage of final grading based on written work should be substantial;
4) assignments and instruction should cultivate a process-approach to writing, including planning, drafting, writing, and revision; and
5) the department should have the resources to cap enrollments at levels conducive to thorough, effective writing instruction.
