Overall knew purpose: 26
- Founded by Dr. Upperman as a place to educate UNCW on African American culture
- Place where different cultures can interact and hangout
- A safe place for black students to go in a majority white university
- To represent the diversity of the students and promote black heritage
- Give minorities on campus a chance to embrace their culture
- To promote African Americans and a center for all students
- Unite African American students on campus
- A place where African American students can express thoughts and provoke creativity
Suggestions to improve the Upperman Center
- More space
- More computers
- Let students know the purpose of the Upperman Center
- Reach out to underclassmen
