Where do I get technology help?

How does Unified Messaging / voicemail work?

Unified messaging combines voicemail and email. Your voicemail and email will be retrievable via your phone but will also show up in your email inbox and can be retrieved/ forwarded/ deleted. Details available on the unified messaging site.

What are my options for computer discounts?

Receive student discounts on both Apple and Dell computers by purchasing through the UNCW online stores.

Does UNCW have software discounts on Microsoft products?

YES! Visit Binaries Tech Store to view amazing discounts on MS Office and Windows 7 software.

How do I get access to free software with TealWare in the Teal Cloud?

What is iPrint and how do I use it?

From off- or on-campus, you can send a paper to iPrint and use your One Card to retrieve it. UNCW offers you an iPrint credit at the beginning of each semester or session. After the credit is used up, you may add funds to your One Card. Release stations to retrieve your print jobs are located throughout campus. Your credit does not roll over from semster to semester. The cost is $0.08 per black-and-white printed page and $0.40 per color page.

How does WAVE Transit work? How do I get around Wilmington without a car?

Getting around Wilmington without a car is possible using the WAVE transit services, including trolleys throughout downtown and Seahawk Shuttles. Using the WAVE is free with your UNCW One Card. Also, if you have a bicycle, the Wilmington area has a Cross-City Trail and River to the Sea routes, among others. (But don't forget to register your bike with the UNCW Police.)

Can I use my meal plan off campus?

No, you may not use your meal plan off campus, however there are many options to enjoy on campus. When you do leave campus, remember to use your One Card at participating restaurants (and other businesses), you will enjoy Seahawk Saving$.

How often can I use meal swipes?

There are limits to how often you may swipe your card, depending on your plan. With Student Meal Plans, there are certain terms and conditions you should be aware of, including what happens if you run low on funds, have dietary needs or restrictions, need to change your plan or if you don't use all your meals in one week.

Where can I find all the details about when and where I can park on campus?

The parking and transportation website has lots of details about how much Park and Ride, commuter, or resident parking passes cost, where you (or your visitor) may park and other transportation policies.

What can I do if I get a parking ticket (or two)?

If you receive a ticket, you may appeal a parking or traffic citation by filing a UNCW Parking Citation Appeal Form (PDF) with Parking & Transportation Services. You also have the opportunity to utilize community service through Parking & Transportation Services as an alternative for paying one specified parking citation per semester, subject to certain eligibility requirements.

Is there a post office on campus? How do I get a mailbox?

The post office in the Fisher University Union provides a number of services for students, including campus mailboxes.

What kinds of classes does Campus Recreation offer and are the classes free?

At venues across campus and the region, the Department of Campus Recreation organizes and administers a variety of structured and self-directed recreational services that enhance the overall wellness of the university community. Classes vary, and for some there is an additional charge. Schedules, a list of facilities and other info are are available at the campus recreation website.

How much do tickets to UNCW athletics events cost and where do I get them?

Visit the UNCW Sports site to purchase tickets and find out how much they cost.

What are the popular UNCW athletics events which might sell out fast?

Basketball and baseball are very popular, and tickets sell out quickly. Volleyball, men and women's soccer and tennis have all been gaining in popularity, as well.

What is Team Teal?

Team Teal is UNCW's free fan rewards program, which is easy to sign up for.

How do you sign up for intramural sports, and what types of teams are there?

There are lots of intramural teams to choose from. Play flag football or horseshoes, softball or indoor soccer. Check out the list of intramural events and activities and register for intramurals online.

Does UNCW also offer sport clubs?

Yes, there is a long list of UNCW sport clubs, such as ice hockey, swimming, ultimate, surf, equestrian and crew.

How far is the beach from UNCW?

There are several beaches in the Cape Fear area. The nearest beach to campus is Wrightsville Beach, which is about 5 miles from UNCW.

I want to join a student organization, such as a fraternity, sorority, student government or ACE? How do I get involved or start my own club?

Take a look at the more than 200 registered student organizations in the Directory of Student Organizations, and use the contact information listed to find out information about upcoming meetings or events. If you don't find what you are looking for, start your own group. The annual Involvement Carnival can also introduce you to members and groups.

Where can I get answers to my residence hall questions such as how to change roommates or how to get a replacement key?

Answers to those questions and other important information about the living in the UNCW residence halls may be found online. What is a learning community?

UNCW's Cornerstone Learning Communities (CLC) motto is "Live to Learn...Learn to Live." As a participant, you live and take most of your classes in Cornerstone Hall with the same small group of students. You will have a lot in common with the other students in your learning community because the courses you take together will be linked. ExCELis a learning community for first-year students that combines academic and co-curricular experiences designed to cultivate the diverse knowledge and skills that students will need to become engaged in their educational, local and global communities.

Where can I find out more information about recycling and sustainability at UNCW?

Sustainability is important to UNCW. If you need help finding recycling receptacles in your residence halls, please ask your residence counselor. The UNCW sustainability website has tips and information about how UNCW promotes sustainability with student initiatives, operations, energy conservation and academics. Get involved in sustainability--from the campus garden to taking the sustainability pledge.

What kind of safety programs are available on campus?

UNCW takes your safety very seriously. The university has its own police force, located on the east side of campus (on Lionfish Drive) and is open 24 hours a day. Police officers patrol the campus seven days a week, 365 days a year. There are also RAD self-defense courses available for women. And notice emergency call boxes (PDF) located throughout campus. Environmental emergencies may also occur, so please familiarize yourself with emergency management processes.

Who is PHIL?
