Dear Friends of the UNCW Women’s Studies and Resource Center,

The UNCW Women’s Resource Center and Honors Program are happy to announce the creation of an annual scholarship in Betsy Ervin’s name.  We will be announcing this to her later in the month.  Through Betsy’s sustained dedication and hard work the Women’s Studies minor and the Women’s Resource Center were established at UNCW.  Betsy served as the first full-time director of the Women’s Resource Center and brought together the resources, programming, advocacy, and academic presence that continue today. Her efforts have been rewarded with a legacy of feminist scholarship and advocacy that continue to have a positive impact on both the UNCW campus and the community. 

We would like to honor Betsy’s work by creating an annual scholarship of $500 to be awarded to a Women’s Studies honor student. Should the scholarship fund reach $25,000 in three years it will become an endowed scholarship with an annual award of $1000 in perpetuity.  Please help us with this gesture of honor and thanks by contributing to the Elizabeth Ervin Women’s Resource Center Scholarship. Checks can be made out to UNCW, with “Betsy Ervin Scholarship” in the memo line. Mail checks to:
