Nurses Day
Always held during National Nurses Week in May, the event recognizes nurses who have been identified by their peers, supervisors, or managers. Each honored nurse receives a framed certificate and a flower as well as recognition from the nurses and friends of nursing who attend the celebration. In addition, presentations are made to faculty and alumni of the year by the UNCW School of Nursing, Cape Fear Community College and Brunswick Community College.
Honoring nearly 100 nurses for their contributions in the areas of practice, education, research and administration, Nurses Day celebration draws attendees from across the broad spectrum of the nursing profession. In addition, District 22 of the North Carolina Nurses Association also announces the recipients of its annual scholarships at the event.

School of Nursing Annual Research Day
Held in the spring on or around the first of April, the School of Nursing Annual Research Day offers students, faculty and community nurses a new and exciting opportunity to showcase the latest research in their fields.
Sponsored by the UNCW School of Nursing, New Hanover Health Network, Coastal AHEC and the Nu Omega Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society for Nursing, Research Day brings together members of the UNCW student body and faculty of the School of Nursing as well as the nursing staff of New Hanover Health Network. Research Day offers a unique opportunity for learning and interaction. Activities include poster presentations, symposia, break-out discussion sessions on timely health care topics, and external guest speakers.
