Cinema Nouveau

Cinema Nouveau is UNCW’s annual festival of new French cinema, co-founded in 2003 by Tim Palmer (of Film Studies) and Michelle Scatton-Tessier (of Foreign Languages and Literatures).  Since then, three successful series have been hosted on the UNCW campus, showcasing cutting edge French cinema in 35mm, on the big screen.  Films screened include regional premieres and many films that otherwise play only in major film festivals.   Cinema Nouveau regularly attracts large audiences from the campus, community, and region.  The festivals are sponsored by the French Ministère des Affaires Étrangères, the Departments of Film Studies and Foreign Languages and Literature, the UNCW Office of International Programs, and the Wilmington Star-News.
