My name is Jen August and I am the Director of CARE's Victim Advocacy at UNC Wilmington. As the campus resource for Victim Advocacy, we offer confidential consultations, information, and emotional support. Ultimately, we are here to be your ally.
The most important aspect of our job is to offer compassion and empathy to the people with whom we work. Our goal is to work with you to examine problems and work towards resolutions that are right for you and your life. You are the expert of your life and your situation and while we can help you examine your options, we want to support you in making the decisions that work best for you.
Services provided by an advocate include:
UNC Wilmington has a Gender-Based/Sexual Misconduct Policy in order to increase the safety of the campus and increase protection of our community from the dangers of perpetrators of sexual assault. This policy states that all staff and faculty, including RAs, are mandated to report incidents of sexual misconduct, relationship abuse and stalking to the Director of Title IX and Clery Compliance.
