Master of Healthcare Administration Details Program Details

The mission of UNC Wilmington's Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) is to prepare early to mid-level careerists, by providing transformative learning experiences and foundational knowledge and skills, to serve as effective managers and administrators within a wide range of healthcare organizations throughout Southeastern N.C. and beyond.

Our curriculum is competency focused and ensures that the information students are learning is both relevant and directly applicable to their chosen profession within healthcare.

About the MHA Program

The UNC Wilmington Master of Healthcare Administration program is fully online and is delivered in the online accelerated program (OAP) format admitting students six times per academic year.

Courses are seven weeks in length and are delivered asynchronously via the University’s learning management system. The 48-credit hour competency focused curriculum can be completed in as little as 15 months by students who meet all preferred admission requirements.

MHA Program Earns Reaccreditation

The Master of Healthcare Administration program in the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences (SHAHS) has been reaccreditated by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) Board of Directors. “This re-accreditation underscores the commitment and dedication of our MHA faculty (identified as a key strength in our review), staff, and community stakeholders to providing a high-quality curriculum that equips graduates to excel as impactful leaders in healthcare,” stated Dr. Dan Fisher, MHA Program Coordinator at UNCW.

Accreditation

The MHA program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education. CAHME is the only organization recognized to grant accreditation to individual academic programs offering a professional master’s degree in healthcare management education and is recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). CAHME Accreditation is the benchmark for students and employers to ensure that integrity of healthcare management education. Our graduate program is also a member of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA).
