Research Interests:

Broadly, my research examines the cellular and molecular changes that occur due to type II diabetes and obesity. In this regard, we utilize cell culture and animal models to more fully understand the changes that occur at the cellular, tissue, and whole animal levels. Our current research focuses on signaling pathways in these disease states and the changes that occur due to drug treatments. My work is currently in collaboration with Dr. Stephen Kinsey and colleagues. Our research uses techniques such as western blotting, PCr based cloning, confocal microscopy, electrophysiology, and electron/light microscopy.

Undergraduate students interested in learning cellular and molecular techniques and are seeking BIO 491 credit hours (directed individual study) are welcome to contact me.
