Jeff Nix: Lecturer

Jeff Nix, CPRP is a Lecturer and Internship Coordinator with the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences at UNC-Wilmington. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. Additionally, he earned his Masters of Science in Recreation & Park Administration from Indiana University, and is a Ph. D. Candidate in Leisure Behavior, also at Indiana University. As an undergrad, he worked as a summer sports camp director and sports program supervisor for the City of Maryland Heights, MO, as well as a facility supervisor at the Student Recreation Center at SIU. After completing his B.S. he worked for 3 1⁄2 years as a Recreation Supervisor for the City of Ferguson, MO in north St. Louis County, where he was responsible for numerous leisure programs and facilities.

Mr. Nix is a Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP), and a member of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), as well as the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA). His areas of interest include: fantasy sport participation, fan behavior, and legal liability and risk management as it relates to municipal recreation.
