CHHS Faculty Mentor and Student to Represent the College at UNC Social Entrepreneurship Competition

Physical Education major, Michaela Moran; faculty mentor, Justine Reel; and UNCW employee, Ashley Cribbs have been selected to represent both UNCW and the College of Health and Human Services at the UNC Social Entrepreneurship Competition in February 2016 at North Carolina State A&T University.

The team will pitch the concept of Lythouse Labs, a mobile application that will help diabetics manage their symptoms and meal plan.

The app will be used in grocery stores to educate patrons about the nutritional content of foods, as well as a way for diabetes clients to monitor their food intake. This information can be captured and shared with healthcare professionals.
