Psychiatric Nursing Care in Medical Settings

Psychiatric Nursing Care in Medical Settings

Saturday, April 6, 2019
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
McNeill Hall - UNCW Campus

Nurses in medical settings are more frequently caring for patients who need significant psychiatric care, but for a variety of reasons, need to be housed outside of the psychiatric unit in the hospital. These nurses often state they are not well prepared for this kind of work. The lack of adequate preparation can lead to patient harm, gaps in quality patient care or other negative patient outcomes.

The College of Health and Human Services at UNC Wilmington is pleased to host this continuing education opportunity in partnership with the School of Nursing for practicing nurses and students on the care of psychiatric patients in a variety of medical settings.
